Coordination Without a Platform Owner

A platform can host interaction without becoming the owner of object meaning.

Published

This publication describes the difference between providing an interface and owning interpretation.

The platform limit

A platform can make interaction convenient, but the same platform can also become the only place where the object has meaning.

When that happens, independent subjects coordinate through a center rather than around a shared object.

Shared current state

The missing layer is not another screen. It is the ability to hold a shared current state and recognized transitions between independent subjects.

Operator boundary

An operator can provide infrastructure without becoming the sovereign interpreter of every object coordinated through that infrastructure.
